For a family who has been longtime Packers fans, lovers of cheese, water, fresh fruits and vegetables, and camping in the great outdoors, visiting Wisconsin in August is truly a dream come true!
We had all heard tales of “the frozen tundra” so getting to experience fresh picked cherries, rolling green hills, seeing Christmas tree farms, and dipping our toes in Lake Michigan was truly a treat.
Did you know you could do all of that in Wisconsin?
I'm not sure there is a better place to spend the summer.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the 30 below temperatures in the winter, we would have already bought a house here.
LOL, kidding, but not really.
But, as the cool breezes start to come in, our kids are already asking about heading south.
How did we end up in Wisconsin in August you might wonder?
Well, on this 50 state tour, we don’t really have any set plan or direction.
Some might think that’s crazy, but for us, it just works.
We pray about where we are supposed to go next, listen to where the Holy Spirit guides us, check around and take action to see what’s available, and something always opens up.
The Kewaunee RV & Camppgound was open when nobody else was, right near Lake Michigan!
(Check it out here: Our Favorite Wisconsin RV Resort )
Instead of getting upset we can’t find a place that’s open, we go where places ARE OPEN, and where we feel called.
For example, we didn’t realize how far ahead and structured things are in Minnesota.
I am talking like booked a year out for reservations.
However, we still found great locations using our rule of looking 20 minutes to an hour outside of major destinations.
That has proven to be true in every state over the last 2.5 years of full timing.
Well, after enjoying our time in Minnesota, we were going to head south, but Abbie reeeeeeeally wanted to spend her big 10 birthday in Wisconsin.
It just so happened that gorgeous temperatures in the 70s and high 60s would be in Wisconsin in August, mosquito season was over, and we found a gorgeous spot near Lake Michigan for 2 weeks!
Seriously!
In peak camping season?
One place less than an hour from Green Bay actually had openings.
And, to put icing on the cake, Jon found pre season game tickets to watch the Packers!
No way!!!!
That has been a bucket list dream for us and they were amazing seats for a great price!
5th row on the 50 yard line!
Go Pack Go!
So, we booked the campground and the tickets and we could not be more happy with our time in Wisconsin.
Super productive with work with great cell signal to run our weekly business consulting groups, great upload and download speeds to create training videos, and so much accessible fun with the kids!
Oh, and I forgot to tell you, on Abbie’s actually birthday, the Packers do this awesome free event!
During their training camp and practice weeks, if you bring your kids and your bikes, they line up early and if a Packers player picks them, they will ride your kid’s bike to practice while your kid gets to visit with them and carry their helmet.
It is such a fun team and community building activity!
And, all of the kids at the end ride with the last player so everyone is included.
Win! Win!
Abbie and Wyatt both got picked and our birthday girl was all smiles from ear to ear.
Wyatt was even featured with Blake Martinez on the Packers Page you can see here: #4 of 23 Packers Tradition: Big guys on little bikes
We ended he birthday with a Green Bay Packers cake we ordered from the Piggly Wiggly store and went to sleep with green and gold dreams.
We love teambuilding, family fun hometown events, and outdoor experiences so will Wisconsin always have a special place in our hearts…
Ya betcha!
