Have you ever heard that saying, "It takes a village to raise a child? "

We're pretty sure that saying has been used incorrectly for quite some time now.

Hear me out for a second, I think you'll like this. . .

See, a lot of people think that means it takes, public school, teams, sports, daycare, and tons of friends to raise a child.

But with all those people raising a child, where do the parents have time to fit in? 

Well, they don't. 

So parents go to work and make money so the child can have lots of things.

And while the parents are at work, "The Village" raises the child.

Except, they really don't.

The kid usually ends up being raised in a group (think class or daycare center) where they only learn to think and do as the group does.

But ask any person who's lost a parent (like me) and they'll tell you they would trade ALL the money and all the things a parent got for them for what?

Just a little more time with Dad or Mom.

Right?

So here's our take on it.

When it comes to family, we were sold a bag of goods. 

For that matter, so were our parents.

The problem is, THE "LEAVE IT TO BEAVER MODEL" DOESN'T WORK!

IT NEVER HAS. 

IT NEVER WILL.

There is NO WAY a child can learn how to be a man, or how to be a woman only getting to see there parents for an hour a day in the evening when all the "work" is through.

The good news is, it's not your fault.

We were all taught the same thing. 

And the harder we worked at it, the more our families usually suffered.

The even better news is, YOU can stop the generational cycle and create a whole NEW way to raise a family. 

A way that ACTUALLY works!

Now I'm not saying this new version of family is easy. 

It will take everything you've got. 

I mean EVERYTHING. 

But when you look back at the end of your life, you want to be able to say you did what it took to build the best family you possibly could; and in fact taught your children how to do it right, too?

Ok, so right now you might be thinking, Ok Jon, but what makes you so sure you've got it right?  

Well, I would never ask you to take my word for it.

In fact, I'd never try to convince you at all.

But I do know this.  

We've raised two amazing children who love us, know us, have spent virtually every minute of their lives with us and are perfectly happy going  out into the world and making friends, working and soon creating families of their own.

I have NO DOUBT, my kids will pass these values on to their kids and the entire trajectory of our family future has changed for the better.

But there is something else I know!

It DOES actually take a village to raise a child!

But the village shouldn't be a substitute for the parents.

The village should be there to SUPPORT the parents and help them to do a better job of raising their own families.

That means friendships, knowledge sharing, emotional support and someone who will fight for you. . .

so you can concentrate on building your family!
