We get a lot of questions about our mobile classroom on this 50 State Tour, so I thought I would share some helpful information with you today.
Our country is full of amazing museums, national monuments, art galleries, historical sites, science centers, and more.
So, we take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to learn in an ideal classroom setting.
If you don’t have one yet, the ASTC Travel Passport is an excellent value and gets you into the science and technology centers across the country.
We also enjoy taking our kids to the local library wherever we stay, parks, National Forests and National Parks.
There are so many great things to see and do!
I have my B.S. and Masters in Education, so I pull all of my best teaching practices into educating our children which includes:
Allowing them to create their daily schedule for responsibility and organization
Pitching in with chores
Completing their basics daily of reading, writing, and math
Exploring science and history concepts, especially using hands on activities and real life experiences at museums, science centers, and national monuments
Creating and exploring art, music, and nature
And lots of outdoor physical activity like hiking, playing basketball, fishing, walking, running, playing football, and more.
They enjoy singing, learning other languages, and playing instruments.
Every day is a great day to learn and we incorporate work, play, and new experiences into our family life.
If you’re kind to people, you will make friends everywhere you go and by the end of this 50 state tour, we will have friends or family in every state!
Now that’s some amazing socialization and ability to communicate and network that will serve them well in their future!
We’re excited to meet you in person or hopefully at a live event someday and would love to hear more about what you would like to learn as we travel.
I will share some of my educational sites below for other parents who are interested in supplemental education for their children.
Starfall is a great site for early beginning and early readers
Enchanted Learning is great for all ages and thematic concepts with super printables and educational resources and activities.
Adapted Mind is an awesome resource for reading and math with instructional videos and the basics
Rosetta Stone is the best language program if you want your child to become fluent in another language
ABC Mouse is also a great early reading program for kids
There are so many resources to choose from and local libraries and museums are wonderful too.
If you have any resources to add to this list,
please put them in the comments below.
Thanks!
And enjoy each new day that allows for creative opportunities to learn!
The world is a wonderful classroom!
