If you are able to camp in Yellowstone, it is a must! This will allow you to see the most wildlife and enjoy the park!

Advanced reservations are a MUST in Yellowstone National Park park, however near Grand Teton there are some first come first served spots.We found a great one at Colter By Campground.

July was a great time to go and we were very fortunate to find a spot available in Colter Bay, just South of the South Entrance, for a week.

With breathtaking views of the Grand Tetons, we enjoyed walking, swimming in the lake in the evenings, and seeing wildlife driving on our way to Yellowstone in the early mornings.

Yellowstone National Park is a place that you can visit year round and have a completely different experience.

Jon and I both have fond memories of visiting the park with our families when we were young, so we decided it was time to make those memories with our own children, too.

And, if you are looking for the iconic “Old Faithful” to erupt, just give it time.

Summer can be a very busy time of year with many people coming to enjoy the parks and have camping experiences in the great outdoors. Because we wanted to have some less touristy times, we decided to wake up early and be on the hiking trails in the park by 7 or 7:30. The best part was that by the time the parking lots and trails started getting busy, we were on our way out.

By taking snacks and picnic lunches with us, we were able to enjoy more time exploring and minimized any time to wait in lines or at the restaurants. We were also back to camp early enough to cook some great meals, have campfires, ride bikes, walk, and enjoy sitting out and reading under the shade of the large pines. Stopping to enjoy and reflect can be some of the best moments of all.
