Have You Ever Wondered How To Homeschool?

Have you ever wondered, "How Do I homeschool my kids?"

Abbie_and_her_bulbs_in_buckets

I must get asked that question 5 times day so I thought I would write a fun blog to help, in case you've ever had that question.

First of all, I NEVER thought I would homeschool my kids.

I graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education specializing in Early Childhood and Teaching Bilingual English/Spanish and English as a Second Language.

As a kid who grew up knowing I wanted to teach, I was super excited to get my first teaching job!

I loooooooooooooooved teaching and after 10 years in public education, building up my consulting business on the side, my son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

After several years of trying to make public school work, we realized he was getting sick 3-4 days a week and I was practically homeschooling anyway.

So, I resigned from my teaching position, started homeschool my son, and after our daughter was born, we never looked back.

Homeschooling for me is allowing your children to learn on their time frame, being open to learning opportunities everywhere, and making every day a great way to learn.

If you are looking for more of a baseline and structure to help you, I have a Best Educators Academy Membership you can comment in our Family FUNdamentals HeartBeat community below to receive more information about.

Here is a great guideline to get started:

Daily, include concepts for the basic subjects:

Reading Writing Math Science Include opportunities for Art, Music, Communication, and History

There are social opportunities through educational opportunities at:

Public Libraries,  Museums,  Science Centers,  Presidential Libraries,  ASTC Travel Passport,  National Parks (Junior Ranger Programs)

Also, Visitor Centers and Chamber of Commerce have many free printed materials great for making collages and reading resources for state reports.

Recipes and How To books are great ways to apply reading and math in the real world.

We use a travel theme of:

The World Is Our Classroom and every trip is a field trip.
