There are so many places in this beautiful country to see and explore and Idaho was no exception.
Do you like to hike, fish, swim, and observe nature?
We do and had fun visiting friends and making more memories together in the state that is all about potatoes and so much MORE!
Here are some of our top picks for places to see, things to do, and places to stay while in Idaho:
The Idaho Potato Museum was not only educational, it was really fun and has a tasty snack shop at the end.
Who knew potatoes could offer so much?
The highlight was the free box of hash browns for visitors.
Yum!
There were science experiments, puzzles to read, hands on items, things to buy to taste, and interesting surprises around every corner.
I don’t want to spoil it for you, so if you are near Boise, Idaho and can add in this little museum, it’s worth it.
Why?
Because it’s all about potatoes!
Now, if you’d rather have an outdoor experience with beautiful forests and water, northern Idaho is the place to go.
We had the opportunity to see friends in Coeur d’Aalene, Idaho and then also go up to Bonners Ferry.
You can’t beat these areas for the weather, things to do, and natural beauty.
We ended up staying a week in Naples, Idaho just outside of Bonners Ferry and it was the most scenic RV Park.
The name of it is Blue Lake RV Resort and there is on site fishing at the lake, you can have campfires, the sites are nice and the only problem is, if you are not used to sleeping with trains going by every hour all night, it will be rough at night.
But, we’re learning and for the future, won’t be staying at places with active train tracks and whistles so close to where we have to sleep.
I do love trains for the Polar Express and whistles are fun, just not all night long.
So, if you have ear plugs or are a sound sleeper, stay here, you’ll love it! 😁
Other than getting hugs and sharing meals with sweet friends from our hometown who have moved to Idaho (hello again friends if you’re reading this), we loved catching a local fair.
It was so sweet and very Charlotte’s Web feeling.
There were so many exhibits to see and we had fun exploring with our friend while our guys went fishing.
Hands on learning at its best!
For me, anytime I can get to a fair is a treat.
Do you enjoy them too?
I love seeing all the school exhibits and it brings back great memories for me of teaching and all the years I entered as a kid.
For this post, I wanted to ask each of my family what one of their favorite memories was, just to give you that perspective.
Wyatt said his favorite memory was Lava Hot Springs because the flume, the river, and spending time with friends was so awesome!
Abbie said her favorite memory was seeing the bunny rabbits at the fair and eating the fair food.
Jon said his favorite memory of Idaho was fishing with Ryan and Pat.
For me, I would say getting to see my childhood best friend, Katie, and laugh like old times was my favorite.
So much to see, learn about and explore!
